The One That Got Away...

As we have transitioned into FY07, EWRI staff is going through a transition of its own. In early September, I left my position at EWRI after two and a half years as a Special Projects Coordinator. But this little fish didn’t go far…she merely swam upstream to serve as a Communications Manager in ASCE’s External Relations department. Over the past year, I have been pursuing my master’s degree in public communication, so this new position will provide me with an excellent opportunity to hone my communication skills and further my professional education.

Katie

Working with EWRI and its members has afforded me excellent opportunities to meet engineering and water resource professionals from all over the world. There are few jobs out there where you get to travel to places where fish species can dwarf you in size, as I quickly learned at the 2005 Congress in Anchorage! Additionally, producing these quarterly issues of Currents has been one of my favorite tasks as I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to communicate all the good works our members and fellow engineering and water resources professionals do to better the practice of engineering. It has truly been a pleasure working with all of you and I hope to work with you all again in the future.

As I will no longer be in this position, please contact my replacement, Andy Kropf at ewri@asce.org for any projects or tasks requiring EWRI’s staff attention.

Best wishes,

Katie L. Gorscak

EWRI Special Projects Coordinator
