Members of the new COPRI Renewable Energy Committee will have a conference call July 14 at 2:00 p.m. to brainstorm ideas and begin planning. The committee, which was approved at the Winter 2009 Governing Board meeting, will be charged with examining the issues surrounding the use of wind energy and other types of renewable energy such as marine current power, tidal power and wave power. Renewable energy has been defined as: energy that can be replenished as it is used; energy harnessed from natural resources replenished at a quick rate of speed; and energy that uses wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat. To volunteer for the committee or for more information on how to participate in the call, please e-mail COPRI Coordinator Jennifer Moulton at jmoulton@asce.org.
