COMMITTEE UPDATE

COPRI Committee Renamed to Coastal and Estuarine Hyrdoscience

Committee chair Scott Hagen is pleased to announce that the Tidal Hydraulics Committee has become the Coastal and Estuarine Hydroscience Committee. Members hope the name change will more clearly explain the committee's purpose and attract new members.

The COPRI Tidal Hydraulics Committee has organized a three session mini-symposium on Relative Sea Level Rise to be held at the 11th International Conference on Estuarine and Coastal Modeling (ECM11). The mini-symposium will consist of two sessions filled with presentations by panelists and conference attendees, and a third session comprised of a panel discussion led by four invited experts. Don Resio (USACE) will participate as the "Risk Assessment" panelist, Rob Young (Western Carolina University) will serve as the "Coastal Planner" panelist, Peter Ruggiero (Oregon State University) will be the "Natural System Response" panelist and Roy Dokka (Louisiana State University) will contribute as the "Coastal Subsidence" panelist.

ECM11, "Using Modeling to Solve Engineering and Environmental Assessment Problems," is scheduled to be held on November 4 - 6, 2009, at the Grand Hyatt Seattle, Seattle, Washington, USA. Details on the conference are provided at the conference web site, www.oce.uri.edu/ecm11.
