OTC Requests Papers for 2009 Conference

The Offshore Technology Conference Organizing Committee has issued a call for paper proposals. Outlines of 200-350 words can be submitted by Sept. 8 for consideration.

Proposals should include a description of the proposed paper, an analysis of paper applications, a summary of results, observations and conclusions, and a description of the significance of the subject matter. This allows authors to describe how their paper provides up to three technical contributions or additional pieces of knowledge to the petroleum industry. Since proposals are expected to contain enough information to make a proper judgment on a paper topic, the length requirements are a suggestion rather than a requirement.

To be selected, an OTC paper must not have been previously published or circulated, should contain significant new knowledge, be technically correct and of interest to those in the field, present information about equipment and tools used in exploration and production, show applications and limitations of such equipment and have received needed clearances. Papers also are expected to be submitted in English, avoid commercialism and include one of the proposal categories listed below, which are used to direct them to subject matter experts.
