Register Now for First International Conference on Coastal Zone Management of River Deltas and Low Land Coastlines

Registration for this first international conference on Coastal Zone Management of River Deltas and Low Land Coastlines in Alexandria, Egypt is now available. For the technical program, more than 75 paper abstracts were submitted from  authors residing in many countries in the Far East, Europe, North and South America while the rest were from the Middle East and Africa which makes the conference truly international. The conference opening remarks will be delivered by Professor R.L. Wiegel (emeritus) of the University of California, Berkeley, USA.

The papers submitted cover topics include: geologic processes of deltas and river mouths; coastal change processes and human influences on coasts; coastal defense restoration and erosion mitigation; coastal modeling and risk management; coast and beach ecosystems; dune and wetland management; coastal pollution; contamination control and disaster management; impact of coastal defense systems on ecology of coastal zones; sustainable construction materials for marine and coastal structures; impacts of climate change and adaptation policies; sustainable coastal management human influence on coasts; and case studies of major deltas and low land coastlines.

The conference is hosted by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in Egypt in corporation with local organizations to capitalize on the initiative drive of Costamarine Technologies and Coastal Zone Foundation in the USA. The US co-sponsors are ASCE, USGS, ASBPA, and NOAA. Members of the US co-sponsors will receive a 15 percent discount on conference fees. COPRI and ASCE members can register now for $510. After July 12, discoutn registration will be $637.50.
