Coastal Structures 2011 Planning Begins

The Japanese Society of Civil Engineers, the Coastal Structures Conference Organizing Committee, and COPRI are pleased to announce that the sixth Coastal Structures 2011 Conference will be in Yokohama, Japan, from Sept. 5-9, 2011.

The conference will focus on coastal disaster preparedness and ocean utilization in a changing climate. Organizers have announced that the abstract submission deadline will be Dec. 20, 2010, and authors will be notified of their acceptance by March 1, 2011. To learn more about the conference, please visit the conference website. Conference attendees will visit the second largest city in Japan, which is situated on the periphery of the Tokyo Bay. During a Tokyo Bay Cruise, participants will see: the storm surge defense system at the Port of Tokyo; storm protection features of the new Haneda Airport runway; and a deepwater cellular bulkhead and a specialized pier at the Yokohama Port.
