5th International Engineering and Construction Conference (IECC’5)
The International Committee of ASCE's Los Angeles Section, the University of California, Irvine, and the UCI-ASCE Student Chapter are collaborating to present the 5th International Engineering and Construction Conference (IECC’5), to be held at the Hilton Hotel in Irvine, CA, from August 27-29, 2008. The theme of this year's conference is “Challenges in the Development of Energy Efficient and Environmentally Compatible Infrastructure Systems in the 21st Century.”
General
The 5th International Engineering and Construction Conference (IECC’5) is a multidisciplinary forum with several symposia covering a wide range of engineering areas with emphasis on engineering design and construction. The goal of this conference is to enhance the lines of communication between researchers and technical professionals to exchange innovative research and technological advancements. The organizing committee is also conducting a Student Paper Contest to encourage active student participation in the conference. Awards will be given to several high quality papers and student paper contest winners.
Conference Papers
The conference will focus on various topics related to energy efficient and environmentally compatible engineering design and
construction projects. Other state-of-the-art papers related to built environment and energy conservation will also be presented.
Potential participants include academic faculty, consulting and government engineers, environmentalists, research scientists, policy
and decision makers, stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and graduate and undergraduate students.

Hotel Reservations
A limited number of rooms have been set aside in the Hilton Hotel for the conference attendees at a special rate of $139.00 per day, plus applicable taxes, single or double occupancy. This rate only applies for three nights from 8/26/08 through 8/28/08 and requires registration by 8/12/08, on first come, first served basis.
