Update on The Building Security Council (BSC)
Following a proposal initiated by AEI, the American Society of Civil Engineers established The Building Security Council in November 2005 to enhance public safety by promoting building security.
BSC has now established the BSCP certification program and has offered a number of training seminars. The certification program now counts nearly 50 Building Security Certified Professionals. BSC has also developed a Building Security Rating System which was designated recently by the Under Secretary for Science and Technology of DHS as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology under the SAFETY Act. This important development will limit the liability of BSC, its agents and customers when a building security rating is issued.
BSC is planning to roll out in March 2008 version 1.2 of its Building Security Rating System and to offer its building security rating services to the public. For more details, visit the BSC web site at http://www.buildingsecuritycouncil.org/home.html.
