Update on the 2008 Architectural Engineering Conference

Planning for 2008 Architectural Engineering Conference to be held on September 25-27, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center in Denver Colorado is well underway.

Following the Call for Papers issued in September, a large number of abstracts were submitted on-line. All abstracts submitted were reviewed and their authors were notified of the decision to accept or decline their abstract.   One hundred thirty seven abstracts were accepted.  The deadline for submission of the draft papers has been moved to March 5 to account for the extension of the abstract submission deadline.

In addition, a number of invited sessions will be organized on topics such Structural Glass, Curtain Wall Design, Curtain Wall Forensics, Demolition, and Cementitious Structural Insulated Panels.  A Panel Discussion session on BIM in Architectural Engineering will also be featured in the program. Several outstanding workshops will take place on September 24 on topics such as Rapid Visual Screening and Floor Deflections.  Together with the technical paper presentation sessions and the invited sessions, the continuing education workshops are pointing to a very strong technical program.

The conference will also feature exhibits, a career fair, a student competition, student activities, committee meetings, a P.E. exam writing workshop, and at least one local tour.  The preliminary program for the conference is expected to be available around mid-April.

Visit the conference web site for up-to-date information on the conference, the career fair, exhibits, and sponsorship opportunities.

As the conference will take place at an excellent venue in an attractive destination and will a feature a first-class technical program, it is expected to attract a large number of participants.
